As part of the military cooperation between France and Ghana, Marion Lauprêtre, coordinator of the French language training programme for the Ghana armed forces, visited three participating training centres at Tamale, Sekondi and Kumasi military bases from 19 February to 9 March. During these visits, the project coordinator actively participated in the preparation of candidates for the Diplôme d’ Études en Langue Française (DELF), financed by the Military Cooperation Detachment, and ensured the proper functioning of the centre in both material and pedagogical terms. The representative of the French party would like to congratulate the enthusiasm of the teachers and the strong involvement of the Ghanaian military personel in learning the French language. Since its creation, the programme has trained more than 1,000 Ghanaian military personnel sent each year to peacekeeping missions in Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Lebanon and Mali alongside the French-speaking military forces of neighbouring countries.
