The French Pavilion: a ftrong French presence at Agrofood West Africa
Representatives of 10 French agro-food companies are present at the French Pavilion of the regional exhibition “West Africa Agro Food” in Accra, from 1st to 3rd December. These companies, belonging to a French association called ADEPTA: - The French Association for the Development of International Trade in Agricultural and Food Processing Techniques, are showcasing their products and sharing the French know-how.
HE François Pujolas, Ambassador of France to Ghana participated in the opening ceremony of this trade fair. On this occasion, he mentioned that “French companies present at the French Pavillon are investing a lot in sustainable development and social responsibility in terms of fighting against deforestation, adding more value to the products or helping local communities”. The Ambassador then visited the French companies within the French Pavillon.
These companies are from various domains such as oil industry, packaging equipment, sea-weed based cattle feed etc. Their participation reflects diversity and innovative nature of the French Industry.
During the first semester of this year, French exports towards Ghana in the agro food sector have more than doubled, and with 16% of our sales, are at the 3rd rank for the most exported products to Ghana.
Ghanaian food products exports to France represent 32% of the total trade and a large part of it comes from the French investments in exotic fruits, cocoa or rubber plantations. These investments show that French companies are determined and confident to work on a long term basis with Ghana with a win-win approach.
France is also present in Ghana in dairy industry thanks to the French giant ‘Danone’ which has recently taken over the company ‘Fan Milk’.
