Pasteur Institute Visits the Noguchi Institute [fr]
Following the delegation visit of the Noguchi Institute to Paris in November 2018, the International Director of the Pasteur Institute; Prof. Pierre-Marie Girard paid a courtesy call on the NMIMR (Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research), located on University of Ghana campus, in Accra on 16th May 2019. The aim of the visit was to enable discussions that would create and promote scientific collaboration between the two parties in the coming years.
The International Director of the Pasteur Institute was warmly welcomed by a delegation composed of members of the NMIMR; Dr. Samuel K. Dadzie and Dr. Daniel Boakye led by the Director of Noguchi; Prof. Abraham Kwabena Anang.
The meeting which was facilitated by the French Embassy in Ghana was attended by Mr. Alexandre Foulon the Head of cooperation, by Dr. Sonia Couprie, International Technical Expert in charge of Higher Education Cooperation and Research and by Dr. Rachida Tahar a representative of IRD, the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development.
The French delegation also had the opportunity to tour the premises of the newly established and well-furnished Noguchi Advanced Research Laboratories inaugurated in March 2019.
The Pasteur Institute is a French, not-for-profit foundation dedicated to health. Its mission is to promote the prevention and treatment of diseases, mainly those of infectious origins, through research, teaching, and public health initiatives. It is named after Louis Pasteur, a French scientist who made some of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine.
