Partnership France-Ghana regarding illegal fishing
On October 27th 2017, Stephen MANU from the Ghana Navy Operations, and Joseph YEBOAH, the assistant director to the Ghana fisheries inspection services, took part in a flight performed by a French Navy Maritime Surveillance aircraft.
The plane took off from Abidjan in Ivory Coast, where its crew was stationed, and patrolled during 2 hours and 30 minutes over the EEZ of Ghana.
All of the fishing vessels from the border between Ivory Coast and Ghana to Accra, from the shore line to 200NM at sea were controlled, and no illegal fishing activity was reported.
It was a great opportunity for the Ghana Navy, the Ghana Fisheries Agency and the French Navy to cooperate and share on such an important mission: the protection of the sea resources, which is one of the government’s priorities.
