KNUST students partake in EPF architecture and engineering Summer School
Six Ghanaian students and one teaching assistant from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are in France to partake in a 20-day Summer School programme on Smart Cities & Engineering for Sustainable Architecture.
Six Ghanaian students and one teaching assistant from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) are in France to partake in a 20-day Summer School programme on Smart Cities & Engineering for Sustainable Architecture. This noteworthy mobility of students demonstrates the progress of Franco-Ghanaian Higher Education Cooperation as KNUST and the French engineering school EPF established a partnership in 2017 which seeks to increase frequent Ghanaian participation in such programmes not only for students but also for teaching staff. The 7 people are thus the first batch to benefit from the programme through the concerted efforts of both universities.
Jointly organised by the EPF and ESTP schools — both renowned Graduate Schools of Engineering in France — the summer school focuses on sustainability through environment friendly projects and smart cities through innovative approaches in building and city planning. Each year, it attracts numerous engineering and architecture students from across the globe.
The group will spend the first part of the programme at the ESTP campus in Cachan and complete the second part with the EPF on their campus in Troyes. While there, they will take a series of courses on various fields of architecture, civil engineering and urban planning. In addition, they will take a French language course to boost their French skills, and experience France through excursions to tourist sites and industries of academic and cultural value. This summer school is a great opportunity for the students to acquire cutting-edge scientific approaches and perspectives on architecture and city planning while also discovering the culture of France. It could also encourage them to choose France as a destination for further studies in the domains.
