KNUST and French Embassy strengthen ties [fr]

On Wednesday, 13th February 2019, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the French Embassy renewed their commitment to jointly pursue common objectives by signing a partnership agreement. These objectives ultimately seek to promote bilateral relations between the two countries through strengthening existing ties especially in the area of promoting higher education and research cooperation, student mobility and the integration of the teaching of the French Language in the University system.

This signing ceremony was graced by Mr. Alexander FOULON, Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Sonia COUPRIE, the Technical Expert in charge of Higher Education Cooperation and Research as well as Mr. Kevin LEMESLE, an international volunteer and Coordinator for facilitating student mobility at the Campus France Branch office on KNUST Campus. KNUST was represented by Prof. Kwasi OBIRI-DANSO, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Rita Akosua DICKSON, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mr. Andrews Kwasi BOATENG, the Registrar, as well as Prof. Charles OFOSU-MARFO, Head of Department of Modern Languages and representatives of International Programmes Office.

The Vice Chancellor highlighted the historical links existing between KNUST and the French Embassy and expressed his willingness to further enhance mobility and relationships between KNUST and French universities. The Head of Cooperation declared the French Embassy’s desire to keep working with the Ghanaian universities, and especially KNUST, in the further development of their joint academic and research programmes with French universities.
