French Navy ship «Aviso LV LE HENAFF» visits Ghana
French Navy ship “Aviso LV LE HENAFF” made a routine call at Tema Harbour from 4th to 6th July 2017. The purpose of the visit was to reinforce the existing ties between the French Navy and the Ghanaian naval forces.
On the occasion of this routine port call, interactions between Ghanaian navy and French navy have been organized in the framework of the Nemo multilateral exercise, which aims to develop the coordination between the main navies in the area of the Gulf of Guinea. The ambition of this exercise is to enable and facilitate the sharing of information, the monitoring of suspicious activities and the coordination of the appropriate actions.
A lunch on board was given and a representation from Ghana Navy joined the LV LE HENAFF’s crew. Commander Guillaume de Roquefeuil, French non-resident defense attaché and Lieutenant-Colonel Philippe COSTES, French liaison officer to Ghana also attended the lunch.
On the 5th of July, Commander Guillaume de Roquefeuil and Lieutenant-Colonel Philippe COSTES attended a meeting with the Ghanaian Chief of Navy Staff, Rear Admiral PK FAIDOO and the Director of Ghana Maritime Authority, Mr. Kwame OWUSU to discuss how to face the challenges of maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea through cooperation between the two countries.
