France Alumni Ghana Association elects first Executive Board [fr]
France Alumni in Ghana (former students of French higher education) elected and launched the executive board of the France Ghana Alumni Association during a ceremony at the Residence of France.
The France Ghana Alumni association made up of former students of French higher education gathered at the Residence of France in Accra on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 for a special cocktail reception and an evening of elections and networking. About 120 alumni were present for the event to elect the association’s four-member Executive Board. H. E. Anne Sophie Avé, Ambassador of France to Ghana was pleased to welcome them at the Residence. In her opening address, she stressed the importance of academic exchanges between France and Ghana and how the French Embassy, through the Campus France Ghana office and the France-Ghana Higher Education Cooperation Technical Advisor, is committed to further improving these beneficial exchanges. She underlined the importance of the France Alumni network in Ghana and encouraged the alumni to harness their networks to foster professional opportunities in Ghana and across the sub-region.
Anita Erskine and Dr Eric Graham, both France alumni, were happy to play the role of event patrons and encouraged all France Alumni in Ghana to come together to build up a well-connected community of bilingual professionals who can work in Ghana just as easily as within the francophone sub-region.
Alumni present then cast their votes to elect the executive board of the France Ghana Alumni Association comprised of a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. At the end of balloting, Dr Florence Teiko Vanderpuye who is Executive Director of the Rosh Pinnah Foundation was declared the President. In her acceptance speech, she expressed her vision to mobilise alumni to use French as a way to contribute to sustainable development goals and contribute to bringing French learning more Ghanaians. Her elected team comprises Maurice Mawugbe as vice-president, Ruth Fordjour as treasurer and Makafui Dordor as secretary.

The evening concluded with a cocktail reception where fellow alumni made new connections and rekindled old ones. They also interacted with the Ambassador who was pleased to hear their rousing experiences since they returned to Ghana following their studies at various levels in France.
