Ecole Doctorale en Lettres et Linguistique Française
Established in 2010 to meet the needs of the Government of Ghana which requires that only phd holders lecture in Ghanaian universities, Ecole doctorale en Lettres et Linguistique Française brings together University of Ghana, Legon (Accra), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Kumasi), University of Cape Coast, University of Education Winneba and University of Strasbourg, which is an official partner of this programme.
Since its establishment, it has been financially supported by the French Embassy.
It enables the training of a large number of people at a time due to its “frame” of Ghanaians and French scientific advisors who organise seminars at least twice a year. Currently, it has trained 48 doctorate holders.
University of Strasbourg and Ghanaian Universities signed a cooperative agreement in April 2015, in the presence of the Vice-President of the University of Strasbourg. The doctoral school which is becoming more organised has begun its second session.
Some discussions were done with other French universities for them to assimilate the provisions to better meet the needs of the specialist candidates.
A seminar was held in November 2015 at Cape Coast and the next one will be held in June 2016 at Kumasi.
