Academic & scientific coperation, research
The tertiary scientific cooperation in Ghana is a priority for France in Ghana (priority 2 of the 2015-2018 action plans). The challenges of wisdom and knowledge that France and Ghana shared have prompted several universities and research institutes to establish partnerships, to develop cooperation projects and to increase the mobility of students and researchers.
The tertiary franco-ghanaian relationship has cross a major stage in June 2015 with the signing of the first convention on the mutual recognition of studies and of certificate in Africa between CPU, CDEFI and VCG.
A capacity building program and the establishment of doctoral programs (in Mathematics, computer science and French studies - FLE -).have been implemented since 2011. Institut français in Ghana develops an "expert dialogue" with universities and Ghanaian research and ensures the relay to facilitate exchanges and collaborations.
Research Institutions for Development (IRD, CIRAD, IFRA) which are already partners in several Ghanaian universities, intervenes to support the Ghanaian research for development, especially on social issues, climate change, health, agriculture and water.
The inter-university dialogue is systematically encouraged by the implementation of a political invitation and missions in the universities of both countries, as well as the implementation of events that aimed at facilitating the mutual knowledge of higher education structures, exchanges and research. It is in this view that Ghana France academic meetings have been organized since 2013. The next meetings will be held in France in November 2016.
