5th Edition of Pre-departure seminar for 2019-2020 academic Year [fr]
The Campus France office of the Embassy of France in Ghana / Institut Français of Ghana organized a pre-departure seminar on Friday 14th of June at the University to Ghana, Reginald Amonoo Building (Department of French).
About 200 students (120 year abroad / 77 masters) and 40 parents of students coming from all the regions of Ghana were present at this important event.
The aim was to enlighten students on all the information they need to know before and after getting to France.
The seminar was officially opened by the French Ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophie AVÉ, as well as the representative of the French department of the University of Ghana, Dr Cephas Sallah. Representatives from the International Programmes Office of the University of Ghana, Alliance Française as well as the president of the France Alumni Ghana Association was also present.
Ernest Koranteng and Carl Nunoo, who are both currently studying in France, shared their experience with the audience. In their speeches and presentations, they all encouraged the students to make the most of this great opportunity they have to continue their education in France.
The students were then made to undertake a simulated visa interview exercise before participating in an insightful session on the steps to take in the coming weeks as they finalize preparations for their departure as well as their arrival in France. The seminar addressed questions on the specific modalities related to visa applications, accommodation, living in France, student life in France and Europe and French culture.
The session was interactive, and the students were able to ask all the questions they wanted. There were also information stands set up by some banks, Alliance Française, as well as the France Ghana Alumni Association which also allowed them to learn and gain more information in their preparations for departure.
